HF Implemented in Mountain Rescue

Operating at the highest level imaginable, the mountain rescuers of Swiss Air Zermatt understand the importancy of Human Factors. Since years themes like Situational Awareness, Stress, Risk Management, Leadership and Team Performance volumes a substantial part in the courses Air Zermatt is offering via it’s renowned Alpine Rescue Center. During the recent course Mountain Emergency Medicine (may 2011), paramedics and emergency physicians from the United States, Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Germany came to Zermatt to train how to practisize emergency medical care in extreme and mountainous conditions. With practical exercises Human Factors trainers Patrick Gruber and Menno Boermans sensitized the participants how implementing Human Factors can enhance the level of safety during rescue missions.
